Pont du Gard
Built in the 1st century A.D., the Pont du Gard is without doubt the most spectacular work of art of the aqueduct, classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. To cross the Gardon valley, the Roman builders constructed a bridge of exceptional size: 275 m long, 48 m high (the highest in the Roman world), consisting of three levels of superimposed arches.
