The Roman amphitheatre
The Roman amphitheatre (or arena) in Nîmes is the best-conserved of the Roman world. It was used for hunting wild animals and for gladiator combats from the end of the first century AD onwards. Many events are held there today.

The amphitheatre is 133 m long and 101 m wide. The outer facade is 21 metres high, made up of two levels of arcades and divided into 60 spans. Numerous staircases and five circular galleries provide optimum circulation.
Divided according to their social rank among the 34 tiers of seats, more than 23,000 Gallo-Romans watched combats between gladiators or animals.
The monument was turned into a fortress in the Middle Ages, forming a refuge for the population in case of danger. The inner part was later filled by private houses until the nineteenth century. In 1809, houses, chapels and the chateau of the viscounts of Nîmes were demolished to give the monument its initial appearance.

Reception of people with reduced mobility:
The ground floor of the bullring is fully accessible to disabled people.
A wheelchair-accessible platform allows you to admire the interior of the monument and the ring.
Guide dogs are allowed in all our monuments.
2 - Maison Carrée
The Maison Carrée is without doubt the best preserved Roman temple in the world. Built in the early years of the 1st century, this building was dedicated to the cult of the imperial family. Inspired by the temples of Apollo and Mars Ultor in Rome, the Maison Carrée impresses by the harmony of its proportions and the majesty that emanates from this exceptional monument.

3 - Tour Magne
At the top of this tower, you will discover the most beautiful view of the city and its surroundings.
A multimedia table presents the evolution of urban planning in Nîmes over the centuries.
From the top of the Tour Magne and its 140 steps, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Nîmes.
Access to the platform is limited to a maximum of 15 people.
Please note that the ascent of the Tour Magne is not recommended for people sensitive to vertigo.
